Is a Schnoodle puppy right for you?

The Schnoodle is a fantastic breed. As both parents are non-shedding, the Schnoodle is a super breed of dog for families with allergies. They are a fun all-round dog and are very tactile and loyal.

A Schnoodle is a cross between a Miniature Schnauzer and a Poodle.

The size of a Schnoodle depends on the parents of the puppy.

A Miniature Schnauzer is approx 14 inches in height and approx 10-12kg in weight as an adult.

More recently there are now toy schnauzers which are approx 10 inches in height and approx 6-10kg in weight.

A Miniature Poodle is between 11-15 inches in height and approx 8-12kg.

A Toy Poodle is usually up to 10 inches in height and weights approx 4-8kg.

Depending on the poodle used for mating will depend on the size of the Schnoodle.

We mainly breed toy and miniature schnauzers to our toy poodle. Occasionally we will breed some of our larger miniature schnauzers to our miniature poodle. We do not breed giant/standard schnoodles.

Schnoodles have a very loving temperament and are known to be very affectionate and devoted to their family. They are great with children of all ages and make very good pets. They are very intelligent and have enough energy to go for long walks, enjoy agility and are very good at obedience. Equally they are happy with a day of relaxing and cuddles without building up energy that leads to boredom and destructiveness.

Their coat can depend on whether they are more like mum the Schnauzer or dad the Poodle. They tend to have a long and soft, shaggy, loose curled coat, however some may be more coarse and others can have tighter curls. We are able to tell at a young age what type of coat they are likely to have so if you are after a particular type of coat then we can help you find this.

They are likely to be non-shedding as both the Schnauzer and Poodle are non-shedding breeds. They will require regular grooming and trips to the grooming parlour to have their coat trimmed and maintained.

Schnoodles are very adaptable and fit into a variety of lifestyles. They are easy going, flexible and every day in their life is always good as long as they are pleasing you! They have no hold ups and will always make you smile. We have successfully homed our schnoodles as PAT dogs (Pats As Theraphy),  companions for the elderly, in homes with new born babies, as fell walking companions, as a companion for children with special educational needs (SEN) and have even homed many siblings as a pair! They are that flexible that they suit many needs and different lifestyles and will excel at anything!
